Very often, what we need most in life is what we save for "emergencies only".
Got a cold?
Pop a bunch of Vitamin C (even though you've been eating McDonald's drive through for a month straight and not taking care of yourself).
Got a problem?
Rush to the ER (even though you could have prevented it by caring for yourself for the last 5 years).
Got a crisis?
Better start praying...
What if instead of using the best things in life as our spare tires, we began to use them as the tools they were designed to be - the steering wheel/ guiding-force of our lives?
Caring for our bodies through regular rest, managing stress, nutrition, and hydration can prevent so many needless ills. Caring for our spirits by talking with our Creator and applying what His Word (the Bible) has to say about how to live our lives could save us so much misery.
Believe me when I say that I am preaching to the choir. This gentle reminder to me, and to you is something we shouldn't ignore. As the saying goes, "A stitch in time, saves nine." So don't put off caring for yourself another day. Don't put off taking to God. Just begin, without trying to know all the answers or be eloquent. Daily sincerity and good habits, even if they are small, are worth more to you than occasional panic-driven obedience.
Libby Wright, mother of four who homeschools, is an original founder of SupplementRelief.com in 2010. She suffered through challenging diseases including Interstitial Cystitis, Graves and Lyme. After years of little progress with traditional medicine, she pursued integrative medicine, applied what she learned, and got healthier. She became passionate about wanting others to experience the same "relief" she had come to know, and SupplementRelief.com was born. She is now managing her illness with a lot of prayer, a lot of nutrition/supplements, and a little prescription medicine. She has been able to resume her normal life and, while there is no cure for her particular conditions, she is able to cope, enjoy every day, and encourage others.
