Who among us over the age of 40 does not want to look younger and feel more energetic? The good news is that there are things we can do to take better care of ourselves that will help with not only our appearance but also our overall health and wellbeing.

Did you know that people would tell their younger selves to start taking care of themselves today?

Think about it. One day we will all be older, look older, feel older, and reflect on life. What could we have done differently?

Since people are saying that they would start taking care of themselves now, it may be our turn to listen to that advice! As we get older, we need to take better care of ourselves! Here are some tips to consider!

1. Use the Right Supplements

Choosing the right supplements is a great place to start!

One of those supplements to support the aging process is DHEA. Since hormone production decreases with age, DHEA is proven to be able to convert to other hormones that your body may be lacking.

2. Eat a Healthy Diet

Learning how to age more gracefully naturally is not as difficult as some think. There are ways to do this simply by eating a healthier diet!

By getting the right amount of nutrients in your diet, you may be able to reduce the probability of facing potential diseases that could occur with aging. Eating more fruits and vegetables can help mitigate the risk of contracting diabetes, heart disease, brain disorders, and other medical conditions that can potentially come with age.

One healthy diet to consider is the Mediterranean diet. One of it's characteristics is eating more leafy greens and less red meat.

3. Use Sunscreen

Not only does using sunscreen help prevent skin cancer and other undesirable effects, but it also is a way to promote healthier skin. Spending too much time in the sun is a sure-fire way to age your skin prematurely. However, by using sunscreen, you can slow this down.

Consider using a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to make sure you are fully protected from the harmful UV rays.

4. Exercise Regularly

Moderate exercise is proven to boost the immune system and your circulatory system. With a small amount of exercise everyday, you are potentially slowing the aging process and the diseases and sicknesses that can come with that.

More exercise can reduce your risk of becoming overweight, which can be accompanied by other diseases. In addition, exercising regularly helps release more feel-good hormones that can help with the appearance of your skin.

5. Use the Right Cosmetic Products

As you age, there are many different cosmetic products that can help reduce the look of aging.

Using products that have Vitamin A, or retinol, can help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles on your skin. Retinol helps increase the turnover rate of dead skin cells, which helps bring about the younger, more youthful-looking skin. By helping with the turnover rate, your body may produce more collagen as well, which helps the elasticity of the skin.

Vitamin C products can also help mitigate the aging process. Not only can it brighten up the dark spots on your skin from aging, but it is also known to help boost collagen production as well to keep the skin looking bright and young.

6. Increase Your Intake of Collagen Powder

Adding collagen into your daily coffee or smoothie is another way to promote better health, especially your skin and joints.

As you age, your collagen production decreases, which is part of the reason that wrinkles become more prevalent. There is not as much elasticity in your skin, so it doesn't bounce back to its normal form as easily. Instead, frowning, squinting, and raising your eyebrows will start to add to your wrinkles.

Collagen can naturally boost your body's skin elasticity to prevent more wrinkles from occurring.

7. Avoid Smoking

As you probably know, smoking has many negative side effects, one of them is aging at a faster rate.

Specifically, smoking has harsh chemicals that affect the skin and make your skin look to be older than it actually is. The chemicals can also create uneven skin tones and dark spots on the skin.

To prevent this from happening, avoid smoking at all costs.

8. Get Enough Sleep

There are many benefits to getting proper sleep, but if you're wondering how to slow aging naturally, getting the right amount of sleep is another great option.

Your body needs time to rejuvenate itself and all the cells within us. While we sleep, the body repairs anything that may be out of whack. It also continues to replace dead cells with new ones.

The body's time to rejuvenate can help you look and feel younger.

Choose to Take Better Care of Yourself

Whether your goal is to age more gracefully or simply to enjoy better health at any age, we encourage you to choose healthier options regarding your nutrition, exercise, stress management, and sleep.
