Take Time to Care For Yourself

      2019-07-2407/24/19
Disease  Family  Personal Growth

Today, the importance of taking care of ourselves is essential to prevent a large percentage of diseases that are often caused by leading a life of excess, diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular, stress, obesity, diabetes and many others.

Many of these diseases can be avoided if a correct life is maintained where we take care of ourselves, without consuming too much alcohol, industrial products, avoiding excesses of saturated fats. The importance of leading a healthy life is important to be able to age more slowly and be able to take better advantage of our body, sport in this area is essential, if we eat a healthy diet frequently and keep exercising daily, we will surely be able to have a body more active when we have a certain age, and that leads to better enjoy our children, to travel and enjoy better each day. Health in a large percentage will depend on ourselves. The example of a car, is a clear example of what a person can pass, a car needs some maintenance, if the car we have to throw the right gasoline in our body will happen in the same way. If our body needs aesthetic care inside and outside, in our body it is the same, hygiene for example. Also, it can happen that like a car, it breaks down for no reason, our body can get sick too but to avoid this it is important to take care of it.

Also sometimes we first attend to work, the house, in short, to all the others except oneself. It is good to be responsible and take care and attend to all others, however, at least that you take care of yourself, at least that you first attend, you will not be able to take care of others. I am not saying that you have to be so selfish and think only of yourself but if you do not take care of yourself first, you will not be able to care for others. I, otherwise, think that it is not fair for others if you do not take care of yourself because it means that another has to take care of you and adds more concern to your loved ones. The health and well-being of others also depends on the care you give yourself.

A perfect example of this is when a relative or loved one is not well. One worries, reveals himself for them. The care towards oneself is an act of love towards our body, our soul, in short, to oneself. This helps one to give more to others because when one is full and full, one has plenty to give. I would like to clarify that taking care of yourself does not mean that you will forget your responsibilities or stop taking care of your loved ones or that you do not care about others. It is about being aware of their needs and having healthy limits that do not compromise their well-being. It is knowing knowing yourself and knowing what makes you feel good and what does not make you feel good. It is knowing how to value your body and your soul and make decisions that contribute to your well-being. With some frequency, almost without knowing it, we behave in a way that is counterproductive towards ourselves.

Where I intend to arrive is that the routine and the bustle of our lives has led us to accept with resignation certain behaviors as normal, when, in the long run, it is usually the path that leads us to an overloaded and stressful life, where emotions like Depression and anxiety undermine our wounds and we end up not making sense of anything. In short, an itinerary towards a life of dissatisfaction and unhappiness. If I had to bet, I would say that most people forget to "take care of themselves" and relegate the truly important to the background. Who habitually does not take off hours of sleep, wear uncomfortable clothes, deal with toxic people or eat badly and at odd hours? As we will see before the responsibilities of work and living with self-denial can pass bill over time. All this makes us forget the importance of protecting ourselves and taking care of ourselves.

Check the premise that the society in which we live does not favor self-care is as simple as paying attention to the information with which it bombards us almost daily. And is that in a ruthless society that promotes competitiveness, regulates our lives and imposes harmful ways of thinking and times is easy to realize that follow their conventions can go against your health. The pressure is such that it makes you feel afraid to fight against the current to pursue your dreams and take care of yourself.

To clarify, let's approach it with an example: due to the burden, the rush, the care of the family and the overload of work obligations, a woman decides to postpone her medical appointment for a small anomaly that she noticed in one of her breasts when performing a self-examination. As he continues without taking care of his health, with time he is noticing more discomfort until one day, when going to the hospital, he is diagnosed with breast cancer. In this way, and almost without realizing it, it is soon overcome by treatment and illness. With the passage of time he needed to undergo surgery to remove the tumor and for months he could not take charge of his responsibilities, just the opposite he intended with his behavior.

But, why was he not able to stop and take time to take care of his health? Undoubtedly, to operate under the belief that "worry about their health implies being selfish" and the ignorance that for that attitude would pay a high price. Labor competency, the need to take care of her family and do things "well" (perception that is influenced by culture) favored the assumption of unhealthy behaviors for her. And he forgot the essential: how can you be productive and take care of others if you do not take care of your own health first?
